Kos is a Greek island of the group of the Dodecanese, the third largest island in the Dodecanese, next to the Gulf of Gökova. The island and is 4 km (2 miles) from the coast of Bodrum, Turkey. From the prehistoric times it was an important channel of the sea ways that started from the Black Sea and along the shoreline of Asia Minor and the islands of Aegean and reached North Africa. Kos is the birthplace of the father of medicine, Hippocrates, which was born on the island around 460 B.C. and founded the Great School of Medicine of Kos. The island is famous for its rich vegetation and its temperate climate and it was characterized by the Roman doctor Gallino as “the most temperate place in the world”.

Marina of Kos is at the north east end of the  island of Kos and is a modern well run marina which visitors say sets the standards for others. Shelter is good within the marina and the facilities are excellent.

Kos is located in the south-eastern Aegean Sea south of Kalymnos and north of Nisyros at  the Kos gulf, just 3 nautical miles from Asia Minor coast. Yacht rental.
The marina lies about 3/4 of a mile south east of the old harbour and the town of Kos. The approach and the entrance are straightforward.

Call the marina on VHF and a RIB will escort you to a free berth. Berthing is stern/bow too with tailed moorings.

The marina is a Port of Entry with Port Police on site and immigration and customs in the ferry terminal at the old port.

Kardamena is a modern tourist resort, at a distance of 29 kilometers southwest of Kos town. Houses and other constructions have been built along the beach and the surrounding area is very beautiful, full of cultivations, trees and green. Yacht charter. The natural environment attracts many visitors to the place and the small port part of this town connects Kos to Nisiros. Swimming, sunbathing, excursion boat and water sports take place on Kardamena’s long sandy beach Access from Kos town is easy by public buses, by taxi, by car and motorbike. Taxis are available also from the village and, as Kardamena is in the middle of the village, they will take you everywhere. If you have a yacht, the port of Kardamena is suitable both for mooring and water and fuel supply. Well connected and not only accessible by sea, it is also close to the nearest airport.
